Michael A. Geist, Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law from the University of Ottawa gave a talk "Why Copyright?" on September 15, 2008 at Concordia University. Sponsored by Concordia's Communications Department, Geist, who is the founder of Fair Copyright for Canada discuss the controversial Bill C-61, Canada’s Copyright ‘Reform’ Bill.

WITNESS, Arts Engine, Miro and others have worked with Creative Commons to put together a short video that discusses how Creative Commons licensing can protect and control artists' media work, while giving people the ability to distribute and share their work.

The Canadian Association of University Teachers has published a review of fair dealing law and practice in Canada, in relation to the Copyright Act. They help identify and define fair dealing, and suggest ways to clarify it in policy.
